2nd Derbyshire Yeomanry
The 2nd Derbyshire Yeomanry was a unit of the Territorial Army formed in August 1939. In 1942, they fought in North Africa at the Battle of Alam el Halfa and the Second Battle of El Alamein with 7th Armoured Division.
In late 1943 the 2nd Derbyshire Yeomanry returned to the United Kingdom to join the 51st (Highland) Infantry Division, where it served as the divisional reconnaissance regiment equipped with armoured cars until the end of the war. They served in the Battle of Normandy (1944), Battle of the Scheldt (1944), Battle of the Bulge (1945) and the Rhine Crossing (1945) before ending the war near Bremerhaven.
