RAF Castle Archdale was a marine craft base on Lough Erne which had Sunderland Flying Boats operating from Pembroke dock landing there post war.
During the war it was an American base for again for Sunderland Flying Boats.
The first German submarine was sunk from this base, many planes returned to base fully on fire and many deaths occured and the casualties were buried in the cemetery in Irvinestown.
