Unit History: Sir Edward Hales's Regiment of Foot

Formed on 22 Jun 1685: Sir Edward Haless Regiment of Foot raised at Canterbury; also known until 1751 by the names of other colonels.
The regiment was raised by Sir Edward Hales in 1685 by order of King James II. One of the nine new regiments of foot, raised to meet the Monmouth rebellion it was termed Haless Regiment
