Woomera airfield served as a base for manned and unmanned flight trials, and a base for aerial supply for personnel at the trials site. Although the RAAF withdrew from Woomera in 1967, flying continued at the site, and today the RAAF now use the range for weapons testing with detachments from the Edinburgh-based Aircraft Research and Development Unit.
