Unit History: Airmobile Combat Service Support Battalion
U.S. Military Unit.
The wartime mission of Combat Service Support Battalion-10 is to conduct Direct Support CSS operations in I MEF zone, with priority support to CSSCs supporting Regimental Combat Teams (RCTs).
The unit’s MCAGCC Mission is to provide combat service support to I MEF units based at MCAGCC, to the Exercise Support Division at MCAGCC, Marine Corps exercise forces operating at MCAGCC, and 23rd Dental Company, beyond organic capabilities. CSSB-10 will also provide combat service support to MCAGCC base and other units as directed by the Commanding General, 1st Force Service Support Group.
Combat Service Support Battalion-10 was activated 30 August 1976 at 29 Palms, as Detachment A, 1st Force Service Support Group, Fleet Marine Force. Detachment A, was redesignated December 1989 as Combat Service Support Detachment 12. CSSD-12 was redesignated August 1991 as 1st Force Service Support Group (Forward). And 1st FSSG (FWD) redesignated 12 October 1992 as Combat Service Support Group-1. It was redesignated as Combat Service Support Battalion-10.
The unit deployed as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. Before crossing into Iraq, the unit was stationed at Camp Bougainville in Kuwait.
