The Defence Logistics Organisation was an element of the Ministry of Defence. It was responsible for supporting the Armed Forces through the stages of operations and exercises.
It was under control of the Chief of Defence Logistics. They had an annual budget of ?9 million to spend on upgrading military equipment. This represented over 20 per cent of the Defence Budget. The DLO employed over 20,000 members of staff at 80 places in the UK and overseas. One of these locations was in Andover in Hampshire. The headquarters were based in Bath, England.
In April 2007, the DLO merged with the Defence Procurment Agency to form an new organisation, Defence Equipment & Support.
