Unit History: Royal Engineers Bomb Disposal

Royal Engineers Bomb Disposal
The role of the Bomb Disposal Engineers is to safely dispose of unexploded bombs or munitions left over from battle. They can play an extremely vital role during peacetime, as they are expert in searching for potential terrorists and can uncover explosives.
To become a Bomb Disposal Engineer, members must complete soldier or officer training, Combat Engineer Training, and in the case of soldiers, trade training. Once being selected for a Bomb Disposal Course, a soldier or officer will take a four week course learning how to recognise different types of bomb and how to dispose of them. Once this is completed, an intermediate course is undertaken, where the members will enhance the skills they have learnt.
