Esso Petroleum refines, distributes, and markets petroleum products in the UK. The company’s Fawley refinery near Southampton is the largest in the country. It processes 300,000 barrels of crude oil a day and supplies 14% of all oil products in the UK. Esso Petroleum also operates the UK’s biggest privately-owned underground oil pipeline distribution network. The company serves approximately 1 million customers every day through about 900 gas stations. It also operates 30 motorway forecourts (gas stations and convenience stores).
