On 23 Jan, 1942, picked up five survivors from the Inneroy, which had been sunk by U-553 (Thurmann) and landed them at Halifax.
At 05.52 hours on 13 Apr, 1942, the unescorted Empire Amethyst (Master Geoffrey Durbridge Potter) was torpedoed and sunk by U-154 about 40 miles south of Haiti. The master and 45 crew members were lost.
