Bridlington was a Marine Craft Unit operating two 42 foot Seaplane tenders and one 23 foot marine tender.
Duties included maintenance and supervision of the sea firing range at Skipsea off the Lincolnshire coast to the South, air sea rescue, and standby for Royal Flights.
Personnel were billeted in civilian digs around the harbour. A claim to fame, was the fact that Aircraftsman Shaw (Lawrence of Arabia) served on the unit as a motor boat crewman -- a portrait of him in Arab regalia hung in the crew room.
