The East of England Regiment (EER) was formed in 1999 from elements of the Royal Anglian Regiment and the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters.
Soldiers from the regiment have served in the 2001 Invasion of Afghanistan and the Iraq War. It is expected to play a significant role in major overseas campaigns in 2009.
In April 2006, the EER was renamed to 3rd Battalion, the Royal Anglian Regiment.
