Unit History: HMS Kent
Memories of HMS Kent
(Memories written by members of Forces Reunited)
HMS Kent, States and Windies. in 1974
Written by Sam Smout
My best time in the mob was 2 and a half years on the Kent, mainly for the 7 months States/W.Indies trip. Good mess, good senior rates and officers. Seemed to be busy all the time but can’t remember a bad moment. Maybe the (almost) mutiny in Gib returning from U.S. when 3E Gunners mess were deemed not fit to sail, due to only recently falling out from a major joint excercise all the way back. Good call from the (then) Commander J.J. Black for his understanding.
