shot down near Crailsheim, Germany on 20 April 1940 while conducting a reconnaissance mission in a Fairey Battle light bomber.

Held at Oflag Ivc (Colditz) after a failed escape attempt from Oflag IX (Spangenburg).
More Information
Attempted escape in May 1941 (twice), again in November 41, eventually escaping with Pat Reid in October 15 1942 to Switzerland, he was later smuggled across France and Spain to Gibraltar and back to England in 1944.
