VICTORIA CROSS,: http://www.london-gazette.co.uk/issues/44925/supplements/8873. Warrant Officer Class II, Rayene Stewart Simpson, D.C.M., 217622, Australian Army Training Team, Vietnam. On 6th May 1969 in Vietnam, Warrant Officer Class Two Simpson rescued a wounded fellow Warrant Officer and carried out an unsuccessful attack on a strong enemy position. On 11th May he fought alone against heavy odds to cover the evacuation of a number of casualties.
