Served as a Private (service no. 2354) in the Second Boer War 1899 – 1902 and also the Second World War until 1941. Citation states name is James Ernest Newlands. Correction to name published in London Gazette 30212, page 7869, dated 31/07/1917, Newlands should read Newland.
