The Most Eminent Order of the Indian Empire - Knight Commander (KCIE)

The Most Eminent Order of the Indian Empire was instituted by Queen Victoria in 1878 after assuming the title of Empress of India and is divided into three classes: Knight Grand Commander (GCIE), Knight Commander (KCIE) and Companion (CIE). The Order has been in abeyance since 1947. The Order of the Indian Empire, as its name implies, is only awarded for services in India.
