The Imperial Service Order/Medal - Companion (ISO)

The Imperial Service Order (ISO) was instituted by Edward VII on Aug 8th, 1902, as a means of rewarding meritorious services on the part of members of the administrative or clerical branches of the Civil Service. A person must have served for 25yrs at home, 20yrs and 6mths in India and 16yrs in the tropics to become eligible. The Imperial Service Medal (ISM) was instituted at the same time as the ISO but was intended for junior grades of the Civil Service.
