Who Do You Think You Are? Live 2016 - did you find the relative you were looking for?

The Who Do You Think You Are? Live

show is over for another year, and it

was a great success! This year there

was a very special guest attraction

– a replica WW2 Spitfire, complete

with its own ground crew and WW2

props – as Forces War Records

joined the Lytham St Anne’s Spitfire Display Team to celebrate the show’s

10th Anniversary at the NEC in

Visitors, including Anita Rani, the

English radio and television presenter

and journalist, were given the

opportunity to climb aboard and

have their photo taken inside the

cockpit of the iconic aircraft, as well

as a chance to chat to the Spitfire

Crew, who were in costume and

character throughout the three days.

Forces War Records’ team of military

and genealogy specialists were kept

very busy, both inside and outside

the replica RAF hut that sat next to

the Spitfire, giving research advice on

everything from the movements of

POWs and the history of the RAF, to

medal recognition and handwriting

and document deciphering. We also

ran demonstrations of our website’s

features and carried out quick name

searches for visitors, to see if we held

records of their relatives.

We’ve already had some lovely

feedback from visitors to the

stand, including this from

“Everyone attending must have

ideas on this, but for me the

outstanding one has to be Forces

War Records. Knowledgeable,

entertaining, bold, and a Spitfire!”

Thank you to all those who came to

see us, and if you didn’t get to speak

to us, our Customer Services team is

always on hand to help members to

find their military relatives.

Our special show discount is still available, any time before midnight 2nd May. You can use the code ‘SPITFIRE25’ to receive a 25% discount on full membership. Hurry, you don’t want to miss out!

In the run up to the show we ran a competition via our facebook page inviting

people to send us their pictures of Spitfires. Winner of the ‘best picture’ -

Tom Stewart said

“Thanks for the tickets, we enjoyed visiting your stand today.”

Below is his stunning picture, thanks Tom!

Nick Mauger, winner of the competition we ran with Who Do You Think You Are? received a free flight with Flying For Freedom said when he heard the news, “Thank you very much, what a lovely way to start the month! This is great.” Our sister site Forces Reunited has sponsored Flying For Freedom to train a pilot. The charity helps disabled people by providing Microlight flying training.
