N °236 INDIA’S DETACHMENT IN THE VICTORY PARADE (seen nearest the camera) is following the Dominions troops along the Mall to the Saluting Base. Viewed from the top of Admiralty Arch, the impressive marching column presents a striking contrast to the days when the Empire was slowly gathering its might for the bitter struggle whose triumphant ending the celebrations of June 8,1946, so fittingly marked.
