Hutchinson's Pictorial History of the War, Series 14 No 4

IN SERVICE WITH FIGHTER COMMAND AN AIKACOBRA INFLIGHT An American-built pursuit aircraft, the Airacobra is a single-seater with an approximate speed of 400 m.p.h. Its armament includes small-bore machine-guns and a cannon which fires through the hollow hub of its Curtiss constant-speed air-screw. UPLOADING WITH AMMUNITION the ammunition round the aircraftmen’s necks reminds one of the hoods of other kinds of cobra. It is being loaded into this aircraft under the supervision of the armourer-sergeant standing near the foreleg of the tricycle undercarriage. f 75
