AWARDED VICTORIA CROSS FOR MID-AIR HERO ISM WAR'S YOUNGEST V.C. WITH HIS D.I'.C. PILOT Sgt. John Hannah, aged IS, who was awarded the V.C. for extinguishing a serious fire in his bombing plane while over Antwerp. He fought the flames while bullets were exploding all around him. With Sgt. Hannah is Pilot Officer C. A.H. Connor, awarded the D.F.C. for bringing the machine safely home. THE PILOT DESCRIBES THE FIRE Sgt. Hannah attacked the fire with extinguishers for ten minutes, and when these were empty beat out the remaining flames with his logbook.
