BRITISH TROOPS ONCE AGAIN RESTORE ORDER IN ANCIENT BAG H DAD British forces entered Baghdad on June i, 1941— twenty-four years after the last British occupation in 1917. Upon the termination of the British mandate and the recognition of Iraq’s independence in 1927 the Royal Air Force under treaty maintained several squadrons in the country.
