The War Illustrated No 35 Vol 2 May 3rd 1940

FALLING! —FALLEN! STAVANGER IS BOMBED AGAIN BY THE R.A.F. Stavanger is Norway ’s largest and most modern a irp o rt, and hence a vital key-point for the Nazis. These two phc-©graphs give a comprehensive view of its aerodrome from a height of over 4,000 feet, as seen during one of the magnificently successful R.A.F. attacks. That left clearly shows two bombs dropping, while the same bombs, right, explode close to enemy aircraft. One end of the runway is also seen to suffer damage. Craters testify to the severity of the damage inflicted both by R.A.F. raids and British naval bombardment. Photos, British Official: Crown Copyright May 3 r d ,1940 Tlie War Illustrated N o .35
