The War Illustrated No 24 Vol 2 February 16th 1940

February 16th, 1940 Til© W sir I l lust rated No. 24 ‘WONDER WHAT THEY ARE UP TO, OVER THEREIN THE SIEGFRIED LINE?’ One month of 1940 has completed its course, and now at the beginning of February these men of the B.E.F. are still waiting for the great offensive which the Germans have threatened so long and so often. As far as their eyes can see,the countryside is covered with snow and held fast in frost’s tenacious grip. The weather is hardly such as would favour the movement of vast masses of men and mechanized armament, but you never can tell, and so the watch on the enemy lines docs not slacken for a moment.
