1S9S SMILING CREW OF A SUPER-DREADNOUGHT Above are some of the seamen and marines of H.M.S. Barham, photographed wearing the smile of victory just after watching the surrender of the High Seas Fleet. The Barham was a sister ship of the Queen Elizabeth, and at the battle of Jutland was the flagship of Rear- Admiral H. Evan-Thomas, commanding the 5th Battle Squadron, in which were also the Valiant, Warspite and Malaya. These four ships were known as “Queen Elizabeths,” being sister ships of Sir John Jellicoe’s flagship and carrying the same armament.
