WEST SURREY. THE Administrative County of Surrey has been divided for the purpose of Cemetery Registers into Eastern and Western areas. The 108 Cemeteries and Churchyards whose Registers form the West Surrey group contain 1323 War Graves which maybe classified as follows :—Soldiers of United Kingdom units -885 Overseas Military Forces of Canada ---149 Royal Navy --------54 Indian Army (Indian soldiers and followers including one unidentified) -------50 South African Overseas Expeditionary Force --46 Royal Air Force 43 New Zealand Expeditionary Force ----19 Australian Imperial Force -----15 German Army -------12 Queen Alexandras Imperial Military Nursing Service -11 Australian War Workers ------9 Royal Marines _______ 7 Womens Royal Air Force -----5 Territorial Force Nursing Service- 4 Belgian Army _______ 3 Voluntary Aid Detachments -----2 Indian Army (British officer) -----1 Royal Naval Canadian Volunteer Reserve- 1 Australian Flying Corps ------r East African Military Labour Corps (British Officer)- 1 Queen Marys Army Auxiliary Corps- 1 Australian Munition Worker -----1 Womens Legion -------1 United States Army Nursing Corps- 1 German interned civilian _____ 1 Of the British soldiers 74 belonged to The Queens (Royal West Surrey Regiment) 45 to the East Surrey Regiment and three to the Surrey Yeomanry. ^Memorials to two New Zealand soldiers whose graves are not known arc included in this total.
