BERKSHIRE THE Administrative County of Berkshire contains 670 War Graves in 126 Cemeteries and Churchyards. They maybe classified as follows :—Soldiers of United Kingdom units ----518 Overseas Military Forces of Canada 35 Royal Navy 32 Royal Air Force -------31 Australian Imperial Force (including one Australian Flying Corps) --------19 German Army ----13 Royal Marines- 7 New Zealand Expeditionary Force- 3 Womens Royal Air Force _____ 3 Queen Marys Army Auxiliary Corps- 3 German interned civilians _____ 2 Queen Alexandras Imperial Military Nursing Service- 1 Voluntary Aid Detachments -----j Serbian Army --------1 Austrian interned civilian ------1 Of the United Kingdom soldiers 114 belonged to the Royal Berkshire Regiment and five to the Berkshire Yeomanry. The Royal Berkshire Regiment sent eight Battalions overseas. The Berkshire Yeomanry served in Gallipoli in Egypt and Palestine and (as machine-gunners) in France. The ist/ist Berkshire Royal Horse Artillery served in Egypt and Palestine and the 2nd/ist in France. These Registers are arranged under the Boroughs and Urban and Rural Districts in which the burial grounds are situated. The name of each burial ground is followed by that of the Civil Parish (if it is materially different). The Registers record particulars of 653 War Graves.
