(The comparatively small proportion of graves of the local Regiments is due to the large number of Camps and War Hospitals in the County.) The East Surrey Regiment whose Depot is at Kingston and the Headquarters of their 5th and 6th Battalions at Wimbledon and Kingston respectively sent nine Battalions to service overseas. The Surrey Yeomanry (whose Headquarters were at Clapham Park) served in France and Flanders Egypt and Macedonia. The Registers are arranged alphabetically under the names of the Boroughs and Urban and Rural Districts in which the Cemeteries and Churchyards are situated. In the Rural Districts the name of the Civil Parish is added where it differs materially from that of the burial ground. The Registers record particulars of 1056 War Graves.
