Protection in perpetuity is assured to the graves in this cemetery by a law bypassed the Reichstag on 29th December, 1922 and a spccial grant of the additional ground required for the architectural and horticultural treatment of the cemetery has been obtained under Agreement dated the 5th February 1923 with the City of Cologne. The number of the Plot is indicated by a Roman numeral following the entry, the Row by a capital letter and the Grave by a number. Thus II. B. 28. indicates Plot II BRow Grave 28. The particulars given in the Registers of the Graves have been compiled from information furnished by the Record Offices and the next-of-kin. In all cases the relatives have been asked to furnish the personal information they wish to appear in the Register and where possible this has been given in their actual words. Spccial Memorials to officers and men whose graves have been lost are indicated by the name of the place of burial followed by a number: thus— c Trier Town Memorial 1.”
