13 THEY RANGOON RIVER Rangoon was captured on 3rd May after paratroops had been landed at strategic points around the capital and seaborne landings on both sides of the river. Here a bulldozer is coming ashore at a river landing-point. HAULING UP THE GUNS The landings on the banks of the Rangoon River which speedily led to the capture of the Burmese capital were a triumph ¦like for the 14th Army and the Royal Navy. Here British troops are seen steering a 25-pounder as it is hauled up the steep nver bank.
