AIRBORNE ARMY LANDS IN HOLLAND R.A.F. HALIFAXES TOWING BRITISH IIORSA GLIDERS OVER THE RHINE The greatest of all airborne operations was launched on Sunday 17th September 1944 when-more than 1000 aircraft of Lieutenant-General Breretons 1st Allied Airborne Army took part landing strong forces of troops in Holland. Some of the vast armada of Halifaxes towing British Horsa gliders are seen here flying above the Rhine.
