WAR ON THE WATER DIVE-BOMBERS ATTACK H.M.S. ILLUSTRIOUS The savage intensity of sea warfare is vividly conveyed in the accompanying official photograph. H.M.S. Illustrious, one of Britains most famous aircraft-carriers, is shown being attacked by dive-bombers in the Mediterranean on l(M.h January, 1941. HE DOES NOT DUCK The splash of a near miss cascades close to H.M.S. Illustrious, but the atman his action station dot snot even duck, the burst of anti-aircraft shells (top left) as the Illustrious hits back. Six attacks were made in seven hours. 1G21
