mm TheW a t/ill u s t m t a win° SIXPENCE JANUARY 31,1947 PIPE MAJOR OF THE 5th BATTALION THE 1st PUNJAB REGIMENT led his pipers and drummers in the grounds of the Imperial Palace, Tokyo, in December 1946, when Punjabis and a company of the 27th Regiment of the U.S. Army amounted joint Palace guard. Several Indian and Gurkha regiments have a similar band, of which they are immensely proud. The Indian units with the British Commonwealth Occupation Force have created an excellent impression in Japan. (See also page 646.)
