HAMBURG IS THE OBJECTIVE OF THESE INC EN DIARY BOMBS Germany’s chief seaport has recently undergone a succession of concentrated raids, one of them the heaviest of the entire war. Here clusters of an improved type of incendiary bomb dropped by U.S. Fortresses arc seen falling on the city’s U-boat yards. BOMB BURST SON A HAMBURG SHIPYARD When this photograph, showing bombs from U.S. Flying Fortresses bursting on a Hamburg shipbuilding yard on 20th July, was taken, a heavy pall of smoke caused by the R.A .F. attack two nights previously still enshrouded this much bombed seaport. a6G|
