RAID ON MUENSTER GREAT DESTRUCTION BY FIRE AND BOMBS Taken the clay after aircraft of Bomber Command had attacked Muenster, on 11th June, 1943, this photograph shows some of the great damage done to the city. The lower of the gasworks’ two holders (left centre) has suffered by fire and neighbour­ ing buildings from both high explosives and fire. Much of the goods station (bottom) is gutted and fires are still burning among badly damaged warehouses and commercial buildings (top centre). [121
