Private 3508 8th Battalion Durham Light Infantry
In memory of Robert Strachan from Pelton Fell, Co Durham. Died 9th January 1916, aged 20, from wounds. At rest in Pelton Fell Cemetery. He was enlisted with his brother Henry Strachan (3509). A brave young man gone too soon.

PRIVATE 4th BATALLION SEAFORTH HIGHLANDERS
At Armistice time, as I do every year, I will quietly visit the War Memorial in Gilmerton Churchyard and pay my respects to my eternally young cousin and namesake who I never knew and whose name I bear with humility and gratitude.

Stoker - 1st Class, HMS Cressy
Born 23rd April 1888 in Deepfields, Bilston, Staffordshire, James was 26 years old when his ship (HMS Cressy) was torpedoed and sunk off the Dutch coast early in the morning of 22nd September 1914.

In memory of Henry Strachan from Pelton Fell, Co Durham. Died 7th November 1918, aged 20, in Quedlinburg POW camp, Germany. At rest in Niederzwehren Cemetery. He was enlisted with his brother Robert Strachan (3508). A brave young man gone too soon.

This is a man who will forever be in our thoughts and will be forever. Great Grandsons and future generations will never forget him nor his sacrifice for the benefit of all of us.

Private, North Staffordshire Regiment 1st/5th Bn
Served in WW1, fought for his country and died on 13th October 1915 aged 21 at the Battle of Loos. Much loved son of Thomas and Elizabeth Sufflebotham of Newcastle, Staffordshire.

Sergeant 17th Batallion Prince of Wales' Own (West Yorkshire Regiment) - killed in action 09.10.1917
Dedicated to a Grand uncle who served his country and was killed in atrocious conditions near Passchendaele in Flanders, Belgium aged 25 years.
He fought for our freedom and we will not forget his sacrifice.

WWI - Served in the !8th Battalion Tank Corps as a Private.
WWII - Served in the Volunteer Reserves Royal Air Force Administrative & Special Duties Branch.
Died in 1987 aged 88, buried in Kilmore Cemetery County Wexford Ireland with his wife Betty
