British and Commonwealth Personnel, including serving Officers who were granted Aviators and Aeronaut flying certificates by the Royal Aero Club, after successfully completing a series of tasks.
Prior to 1917 it was a requirement that a Pilot had to have a Royal Aero Club Flying Certificate prior to being granted a commission in the Royal Flying Corps or Royal Naval Air Service.
Many of those listed therefore saw service in the Aerial Forces during the First World War for both sides!
Please be aware that due to the way we collate, and cross reference our databases, some records will contain more information than that listed above.
