The United Kingdom Census of 1861 recorded the people residing in every household on the night of 7 April 1861, and was the third of the UK censuses to include details of household members. On the night of Sunday 7th April 1861, a full census was taken in the UK. Our database includes members of the Armed Forces listed in the census.

Records in this collection are likely to include the following:

  • name
  • first name
  • rank
  • regiment
  • location.

Please be aware that due to the way we collate, and cross reference our databases, some records will contain more information than that listed above.
