The Royal Navy’s official published Lists are often one of the best ways to trace an officer's career in the British Services. The Navy Lists include details of where the officer served, their rank, seniority date and decorations. Units covered include Royal Naval Reserve R.N.R., Royal Marines R.M., Royal Naval Voluntary Reserve R.N.V.R. and Queen Alexandra’s Royal Naval Nursing Service Q.A.R.N.N.S.. If you need a definitive answer as to whether someone served, their rank or medals held at a particular time then these lists will give you that information.
The Navy, Army and Air Force lists on Forces War Records are fully transcribed in house by our researchers, they are not merely searchable scans but a full transcription complete with all abbreviations and terms clarified, this makes them easier to search, clearer to understand and far more accurate than any other alternative version.
Period covered: 1940
Please be aware that due to the way we collate, and cross reference our databases, some records will contain more information than that listed above.
