The official published lists are often one of the best ways to trace an officer's career in the British Services. These Army Lists for instance were published monthly (1798-1940), quarterly (1879-1922 and 1940-1950) and half-yearly (1923-1950), as well as the ongoing modern Army List (1951-), for the regular army in this period. All the monthly lists and the quarterly lists for 1940-1950 include officers of colonial, militia and territorial units.
The lists are a snap-shot in time with names, ranks and unit details of those personnel who were members of the service as at that date. Award details are also documented. This list includes records for the Territorial Army Reserve of Officers.
This list is fully transcribed with all abbreviations and terms clarified, therefore making it easily searchable.
Please be aware that due to the way we collate, and cross reference our databases, some records will contain more information than that listed above.
