19th August, 2017 marks the 75th Anniversary of the raid on Dieppe codenamed ‘Operation Jubilee’. Overall, the raid did not succeed, but many lessons were learned that were applied to the D-Day invasion of 6th June, 1944. The men who participated in the Dieppe Raid paid a great price. Of the nearly 5,000-strong Canadian contingent, 3,350 were killed, wounded or taken prisoner. A total of 210 British and American personnel also lost their lives. READ MORE HERE:

Today, August 15th marks the 72th anniversary of the announcement that Japan had surrendered to the Allies in 1945 - ending nearly six years of the Second World War.
