Today we enter the final hundred days of commemorations for the centenary of the Great War 1914-18. We will be remembering the battles and the bravery of those who fought lived and died. We will continue to honour all those who served, died and were affected by the war both at home and overseas.
On the centenary of the Armistice, we will pause to reflect on the sacrifices made by the brave service men and women who have fought for our country, selflessly and courageously.
“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them.”
Forces War Records, the specialist military genealogy website, has created a wall of remembrance. Unlike other dedication walls, posts can be shared via social sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus, directly from their submission. Visitors are also able to search for their ancestor's military record direct from the post.
Here’s how it works:
Upload a photograph (image of your ancestor, or suitable image of Remembrance)
- Write a short dedication
- Share via social pages & please use the hastag #CountdownToPeace
- Search the site for relevant records
