
Noel Anthony Clarke (born 6th December 1975) is an English actor, screenwriter, director, and comic book writer from London. He is known for playing Wyman Norris in Auf Wiedersehen, Pet and Mickey Smith in Doctor Who. Clarke appeared in and wrote the screenplay for Kidulthood and wrote, directed and starred in the sequel, Adulthood. Clarke won the Laurence Olivier Award for Most Promising Performer in 2003 and was awarded a BAFTA Orange Rising Star Award in 2009.
In the latest BBC episode shown on the 31st August Clarke starts his search in Trinidad as he uncovers his ancestry, but soon ends up on the small island of Carriacou, off the coast of Grenada. There he learns of an ancestor called Glasgow Bedeau who was born into slavery and Clarke is told the slaves were supervised by a man named John Dallas who had a reputation for being particularly brutal.
Noel’s spirits are lifted when he’s welcomed into the family fold with a powerful musical ritual performed by Glasgow’s descendants.
Clarke’s episode of Who Do You Think You Are? is on BBC One on August 31 at 8pm.
