Tired of hitting brick walls with the bigger genealogy sites? Ready to search some smaller, exclusive collections and get specialist advice on finding your military ancestors? Try Forces War Records, as recommended in this month’s issue of ‘Who Do You Think You Are’.
Is Forces War Records of use to family historians? Don’t take our word for it, ask Simon Fowler, aka ‘The History Man’ (http://www.history-man.co.uk/). Formerly a professional archivist and editor of ‘Family History Monthly’, Simon has just written a double-page spread about the website for the August 2015 issue of ‘Who Do You Think You Are’ magazine, out today. In it he outlines some of the most interesting collections in our archive, explains how to use the site, chats to our CEO and extolls the virtues of our revamped Customer Support team (when Simon sent in his own genealogical query regarding his uncle’s shoulder badge, without making it clear that he was the famous military genealogist, he received an answer within the hour). He also mentions that we now have an informative members’ e-periodical, though this is in fact published monthly, not quarterly as suggested in the piece.
Download the latest issue of ‘Who Do You Think You Are' from their website (the July issue is still shown at the moment, but it will shortly be updated), or read more about our unique Great War hospital records collection from the magazine’s own blog.
