#COUNTDOWNTOWAR 03/08/1914 4.52PM

Forces War Records recently went to the National Archives, Kew to study some of the Telegrams sent just before the start of the Great War.

We will be posting the transcription of the telegrams as they happened 100 years ago.

CONFIDENTIAL.

Sir Edward Grey to Sir C. Greene (Tokyo).

(No. 36.)

Foreign Office, August 3, 1914, 4.52PM

AT present moment, when war with Germany is a possibility, it might be well for you to warn Japanese Government that, if hostilities spread to Far East, and an attack on Hong kong or Wei-hai were to take place, we should rely on their support.
