Sometimes celebrities can get a little wrapped up in their own worlds. Their lives though, like many of our own, are usually worlds apart from those who have fought in war — fighting selflessly and facing death and conflict for their country.
That’s why when I read the story about a D-Day veteran meeting Brad Pitt and not knowing who he was brought a smile to my face. The 90-year-old war hero, Peter Comfort, probably brought even A-lister Brad Pitt down to earth that day.
Pitt is playing the commander of a DD Sherman tank in a new wartime thriller, which is being filmed in Hertfordshire. The producers contacted ex-tank crewman Peter Comfort to help the Hollywood actor learn about what life was like as a soldier fighting in a Sherman.
