| HMS Blackpool |
Dates: 1958 - 1978 HMS Blackpool was a Whitby Class Frigate Type 12. HMS Blackpool, Eastbourne, Scarborough, Tenby, Torquay, and Whitby were the first frigate to have the "V" form hull which is certainly the most outstanding small warship design of the 20th century. The evolutionally design made it possible to be driven in head sea with the usual slamming which occurs with conventional destroyers of the time. Each Frigate cost 3.5 million pounds
Forces Reunited Forum Posts involving HMS Blackpool
"Can anyone help please. I am carrying out some research for the widow of an ex RN man. I wish to have a brief list of the movements of HMS BLACKPOOL between December 1964 & January 1966. I believe she was in the Far east during this period. Likewise I am after the same sort of information on HMS CAPRICE from June 1966 to January 1967."
