Memories of HMS Battleaxe

HMS Battleaxe in 1954
Written by Leslie Sharpe

"The Battleaxe I was on was the weapons class destroyer and the memory was of taking part in the fleet review and escorting the royal yacht around the UK after the coronation and providing street lining party for the Queens tours of the major cities including my home town Hull. Each place put on dances for the ships companies and good runs were had by all with the girls being particlarly friendly as in those days they loved sailors...Happy Days"
