H.M.S. Alaunia (F 17)
Repair Ship, carrying the pennant F 17 she was built by John Brown Shipbuilding & Engineering Company Ltd. (Clydebank, Scotland). She was launched on 7th Febuary, 1925 and until August 1939 when she was requisitioned by the Admiralty and converted to an armed merchant cruiser, she operated as the passenger ship Alaunia of the Cunard White Star Ltd., Liverpool.
On 8 December 1944 she was sold to the Admiralty and converted to a repair ship. This conversion was completed in August 1945 and she was stationed at Devonport. Sold for scrap in September 1957 and scrapped at Blyth.

"I was on "Alaunia" for the Diesel Course in 1953. We steamed (Not Towed) her to the Fleet Review. As most of the crew were Stokers I had a watch as Starboard Lookout. Bearing Green 15 dim white light far Sir. Not theres a little light over there."
