HMS Affray
This is a picture of the sub that disappeared with all hand in 1951.

We shall remember them.

Dates: 1944 - 1951

One of the Amphion class large patrol submarines, laid down by Cammell Laird in Birkenhead.
She was deployed to the submarine tender HMS Montclare as part of the 3rd Submarine Flotilla based at Rothesay.
She moved on to the British Pacific Fleet.
In 1949 she was transferred to the 5th Submarine Flotilla reserve.
1951 she was transferred to portsmouth and the Reserve Group G. During training exercises on 24rd April 1951 she failed to make contact with control and was reported missing. After extensive searching the massive search mission still had not found the missing sub.
On June 14th the boat was located with its crew lost. Its location is a designated controlled site by the MoD.
